Islamabad, Feb 1 (PTI) The bullet-riddled body of a well-known Balochi folk singer, who was abducted last month, has been found in Khuzdar district of Balochistan province.


Singer Ali Jan Issazai and his student Shahzad Nadeem were abducted by a group of armed men from a hotel in provincial capital Quetta on January 10.

Issazai''s body was found in Kanak area of Khuzdar district yesterday by local residents.

The body was taken to a state-run hospital for autopsy.

Issazai was hit by a single bullet in the head and his body bore multiple marks of torture, hospital sources told The Express Tribune newspaper.

Issazai''s hands were tied behind his back.

The body was handed over to Issazai''s kin.

His family ruled out the possibility that he had been kidnapped for ransom, saying they were too poor to pay anyone.

In a related development, the Political Parties Coordination Committee, comprising different political and religious parties and representatives of lawyers and traders, has demanded an immediate end to the military operation and extrajudicial killing of people in custody in Balochistan.

The PPCC made the demand at a seminar held at a college in Quetta yesterday.

Several speakers said incidents of targeted killings were on the rise and the government had failed to tackle the problem.

In the past , the bullet-riddled bodies of several "missing persons" - numbering about 8000  Balochs detained by security and intelligence agencies -372 mutilated bodies have been found in different parts of Balochistan.

Abducting, lootings, robberies, bomb blasts and target-killing of Balochs is executed by undercovered Police, F.C. and levies by the order of the Supreme Command of Pakistani Military and the Decorative
Democracy of Islamabad.
