SNP man gunned down in Korangi
They said Shahzado Banglani, who was in his late-20s, was targeted by armed motorcyclists in Korangi 1 ½ near R Check Post, where he was waiting for a bus with his friend Pappu Bajkani.
“Witnesses said there were three assailants on a motorbike and two of them fired shots at Shahzado and Pappu,” said Inspector Amjed Kayani, the SHO of the Korangi police station. “It seems that their prime target was Shahzado, who sustained eight bullet wounds while Pappu was hit by two bullets. Shahzado died on the spot while his friend was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), where his condition is said to be stable.”
The area SHO showed unawareness about the people and the motive behind the killing.
He said that the incident caused tension in the locality, mainly in Zia Colony, where rattle of heavy gunfire forced traders to pull down their shutters and kept the traffic off the roads.
A few hours later, SNP chairman Ameer Bhumbro told a press conference at the Karachi Press Club that the victims were workers of his party.
He condemned the incident and slammed the government which, he said, had no writ in Karachi.
